(Alliance News) - Omer Spa announced Wednesday that it has signed a contract with Hitachi Rail for the supply of furniture components for 46 trains related to the Milan metro, M1, M2 and M3 lines.

The value of the contract, of which the company cannot give full disclosure, "will contribute to the backlog in a percentage within a range between 5 percent and 10 percent," a note said.

Omer is scheduled to start deliveries as early as the end of 2023, with the contract term expected to last until 2025. The new vehicles, consisting of six aluminum coaches, will help further renew the public transport network, offering passengers more modern, accessible and comfortable vehicles.

The order awarded to the company is for the fabrication of the train's transverse walls and longitudinal upholstery, including the seat.

Omer's stock on Tuesday closed 2.0 percent in the red at EUR2.91 per share.
