Integrated centre of excellence for Nglaze commences operations as scheduled - Fifteen new jobs created - Increased demand from China - Further expansion of capacities started

Göttelborn, Germany, 29 January 2014. Nanogate AG (ISIN DE000A0JKHC9), a leading international integrated systems provider for high-performance surfaces, has reached new milestones in the expansion of its market position. The newly opened centre of excellence for the production and enhancement of Nglaze components has commenced operations as scheduled and started delivering components. At the same time, the volume of existing business with China has picked up significantly. In view of the increase in orders, Nanogate has decided to expand the centre of excellence. By way of a second production line, capacity is set to more than double from the first quarter of 2015. In the medium term, Nanogate expects Nglaze to grow significantly.

Ralf Zastrau, CEO of Nanogate AG, commented: "Nglaze components are an integral part of Nanogate's growth strategy. Glazed plastics with multifunctional properties enable new designs to be used as a replacement for glass or metal in many applications. The increase in the existing order volume for vehicle roof elements, which we deliver to China, once again confirms our focus. The Group will expand its capacities as a result of the current increase in orders and heightened interest. In the medium term, we will benefit from this step as regards sales and profitability, even if we continue to make investments and to open up new markets in the short term. In light of the great interest shown in Nglaze, we anticipate new applications and further growth, particularly in international business."

Under the Nglaze umbrella brand, Nanogate markets flat and complex components (2D and 3D) based on innovative, multifunctional plastics with glass-like properties. Thanks to the benefits they provide in terms of design and weight, they are currently being used, particularly in automobile construction, for components with a high-gloss, black piano lacquer finish, for example. In this dynamically expanding market, the Group received several contracts with a value in the millions of euros in the past year, such as orders from China to supply roof modules as well as from Porsche for a new premium SUV.

New jobs and further expansion of capacities
The creation of the integrated centre of excellence, which brings together the development, production and coating of Nglaze components, started following Nanogate's acquisition of an equity holding in Plastic-Design at the end of 2012. The Group now holds a 76 % stake in the company along with an option for the remaining shares. 15 new jobs have so far been created at the site in Bad Salzuflen. With the scheduled start of production, the company's process of transformation has progressed a long way, and its integration into the Group is now complete. A second production line is to be set up by the first quarter of 2015, thereby more than doubling capacity at the centre of excellence.

With its equity holding in Plastic-Design, Nanogate is adding component manufacture to its value chain, in addition to the existing capacities for enhancing plastics and metals. Plastic-Design works together very closely with all the other Nanogate Group companies in the marketing and production of Nglaze components.
