Medworxx Solutions Inc. ("Medworxx") (TSX VENTURE: MWX) today announced The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as the newest UK client to license the Medworxx Patient Flow solution, specifically, the Clinical Utilisation Review program using the Medworxx Clinical Criteria module. The Royal Surrey County Hospital is a 600-bed district General Hospital, located outside of Guildford serving a population of 320,000 for general services and 1,200,000 for cancer services. Royal Surrey County Hospital has opted for a two-year, three-phase software procurement and implementation roll-out across acute-care wards. Clinical Criteria will deliver the necessary improvements in patient flow to support the hospital’s Patients 1st Program delivering safe, high quality care.

Royal Surrey County’s decision to invest in Medworxx came following the delivery of a Medworxx Clinical Utilisation Review (CUR) snapshot audit. The CUR audit was initiated by the local commissioner, Guilford & Waverley CCG, as a precursor project to pilot the Medworxx CUR solution and to provide objective evidence of the opportunity. CUR audit findings were shared across the local health system, including the CCG, Trust, Social Services and also the community service provider Virgincare. This provided decision makers with the necessary evidence to select Clinical Criteria-- designed to provide advanced patient flow analytics in real-time to support improvements in discharge and system wide integration.

Since the company’s introduction into the UK market in 2011, Medworxx has been working closely with commissioners. “We continue to work hard as a whole system to make continuous improvements to patient care, experience and outcomes. The CUR audit provided a valuable evidence base about the specific challenges facing our health and social care partners locally. The real time evidence that we will obtain from the CUR data will help us to identify the opportunities to deliver excellent results in patient flow, safe and timely discharges and joined up working,” says Vicky Stobbart, Executive Nurse, Director of Quality and Safeguarding, NHS Guildford and Waverley Clinical Commissioning Group.

Royal Surrey has put an interim agreement in place with Medworxx to allow them to commence implementation. “We are eager to demonstrate how the benefits to our patients and the use of our resources, indicated in the CUR snapshot, can be sustained and built upon through embedding the Medworxx tool as part of our current patient flow program,” says John Coleman, Director of Operations, The Royal Surrey County Hospital.

“We are encouraged by our growth in the UK which further validates the relevance and strength of our patient flow solution,” says Dan Matlow, President and CEO, Medworxx. “We look forward to showcasing the Medworxx solution at Royal Surrey County Hospital and we have no doubt they will quickly become a reference site for future CUR adopters.”
