West Burton Bronze Award for quality of project delivery

EDF Energy was recently honoured with a prestigious award from SAP at West Burton CCGT. The award recognises the company's Enterprise Asset Management implementation. Logica was the proud implementation partner for this award winning project.

The project delivered the mission-critical Enterprise Asset Management system to a very tight timeline. Based on EDF's existing SAP platform, the system is essential for both the commissioning of the power plant and ongoing operations for its full lifecycle. In the demanding UK market, where electricity generation capacity will be a key challenge in the coming decade, power plant reliability (supported by best in class asset management systems) will become a key differentiator.

A very pleased Darren Ramshaw, Head of Generation, EDF Energy West Burton CCGT, exclaimed, "We are very pleased with the way that our CCGT team, our EDF Energy IT colleagues and our key-partner Logica have brought together the industry-expertise, business process know-how and IT-delivery leadership to help us realise our ambitious vision. Together we are proud to have successfully delivered a SAP EAM system to time and budget that: underpins our best practice risk-based asset management approach, allows us to benchmark and optimise our plants reliability to deliver optimal performance for EDF Energy and accelerates our journey to key external accreditations including ISO9000 and ISO14000 and PAS55."

Each year, SAP's annual Quality Awards recognise customers who have achieved excellence in planning and executing their SAP projects, delivering significant benefits to their organisations. This year's winners were announced at a ceremony held at the London Transport Museum. Paul McKeon attended the event, accompanying Darren Ramshaw, Head of Generation, EDF Energy West Burton CCGT and Jim Horsley, Programme Manager, EDF Energy.

This is the first time that SAP is being used for integrated Asset and Work Management at EDF Energy, and this is what Adrianna Michalska, SAP Support Operations Manager at EDF Energy had to say: "We are delighted to have worked in a closely integrated way with both the project team and the CCGT business to help successfully deliver this key power generation business venture on time to challenging timelines. This development further leverages the value derived from SAP as a corporate system and delivers new expertise and capability (SAP Asset Management (PM), DMS and EHS) to both the business and EDF Energy IT".

The proud team that worked hard to make this project an outstanding success included Gary McAdoo, Paul Smith, Mark Bowler, Nigel Stephenson, John Stansbury, Neil Seaman, David Brown, John Woodland, Trevor Blackburn, Mike Connolly, Gav Virk, Paul McKeon, Neil Malik, Kate Hobbs, Ashok Pathmanathan, Keith Wood, Matt Allison, Matt Rendle, Min Chauhan, Neil Sickling, Paul Ostridge, Rupi Dulai, Tom Fulda and Turlock Shubh among others.
