On KIMOTO's 70th anniversary
To all Kimoto supporters,
President and Chairman Kazunobu Kimoto

On July 2, 2022, we successfully marked the 70th anniversary of the founding of KIMOTO.

I have a deep feeling of gratitude to the many people who have helped us over the years. I am also incredibly grateful to the previous generations of people who worked hard to lay the foundation for KIMOTO, thereby getting us where we are today.

Upon assuming the position of president in June 2009, I felt that it was the beginning of the end for me, personally. However, after continually pondering the question of what needs to be done to make us a sustainable company, I set out to nurture human talent with the aim of getting KIMOTO to the 100-year mark. And now, with your help, the next generation of staff, numbering in the double digits, have developed well and are participating in the management of the Company.

In taking up the theme of learning from history and envisioning the future, we have visualized our past and defined the historical connections we need and the changes we need to make, as well as what we need to create in the future. As a result, we have dramatically improved the accuracy of our medium-term management plan--something that was not possible in the past.

The founding philosophy of the Company is one of
a. Technological thinking
b. Shared prosperity with the local community
c. Family-oriented
d. Environment Friendly
While a, b, and c have developed, d has, unfortunately, made no progress.

After careful consideration of the future of our planet and the children of local communities who are the future, we have launched a project to dramatically reduce the use of fossil fuels, even though this will not bring any profit in the short term. We are currently working tirelessly to stay ahead of global trends.

On January 17, 2023, it will be the 102nd birthday of our founder, Ujihito Kimoto.

The armed conflicts currently taking place in Ukraine and around the world are heart-breaking to all of us. The corporate philosophy of our founder, who experienced first-hand the tragedy of World War II, is peace. We believe that KIMOTO can do more to stimulate interactions among our employees, suppliers, and customers around the world, as well as among countries and regions, thereby bringing everyone together.

Lastly, I would like to conclude with what I consider to be KIMOTO's good points:
・ Personnel reductions have been kept to a minimum;
・ There is no need for a labor union;
・ Employees support management (more than 50% of employees are members of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan).

Since 2000, we have experienced multiple once-in-a-century events:
2008 Financial Crisis
2011 Great East Japan Earthquake
2019 COVID-19
2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine

Our human resources and organization have always been open to the unexpected, and we have fostered an autonomous and decentralized organizational culture that is as responsive to change as a soccer team. We are working to create an environment where, under a free and flexible work style, our people are not bound by traditional departmental boundaries, but rather have multiple skills, multiple titles, and can play multiple roles.

Although we have been impacted by some of the major events that have occurred around the world, we have managed to overcome them. I think we have been able to continue our operations without major repercussions in part because we have been improving our structure and workflow reforms for the past 12 years.
The world will continue to see many unpredictable events in the coming years, but we will continue to work together with all of those who support us as we aim to be a sustainable company for the next 100 years and beyond.

We greatly appreciate your continued support of KIMOTO.
