Kalium Lakes Limited (KLL) has announced the completion of more significant milestones, with the overall Beyondie SOP Project (BSOPP) approaching 70% complete, on budget and on schedule.
These include the practical completion of the 79.4 km BSOPP natural gas lateral which is fully owed by Kalium Lakes, as well as the commencement of installation of steel and key mechanical equipment for the SOP purification plant.
CEO, Rudolph van Niekerk, said: 'Overall we are close to achieving 70% project completion and importantly we remain on schedule and on budget.
'Practical completion of our gas pipeline allows us to finalise the gas supply infrastructure and significantly de-risks completion of construction for this part of the Project.
'At the same time, we are pleased to see the good progress made in construction of the SOP purification plant, with commencement of steel and mechanical equipment tracking on schedule,' he said.
The natural gas pipeline, which runs from the inlet station at the Goldfields Gas Pipeline (GGP) interface near the Great Northern Highway to the tie-in at the delivery station near the SOP purification plant, has achieved practical completion by Pipecraft three weeks ahead of schedule and under budget. Environmental rehabilitation work is well underway and Pipecraft demobilisation is now planned for early November.
APA has now mobilised to site to commence construction of the metering facility and tie-in to the GGP. As the hot tap is already in place, this work is forecast to be completed in the next month.
Construction of the gas inlet and delivery stations will commence with Primero mobilising to site. When these stations are completed, Primero and APA will work together to commission the infrastructure that will enable gas supply for power generation and SOP processing.
Evaporation pond construction continues ahead of schedule and liner installation is also accelerating with three liner installation contractors now operating at site.
Construction work at the SOP Purification plant is progressing on budget and schedule, with concrete works now more than 35% complete. Erection of structural steel and installation of key process equipment has commenced.
Delivery of key equipment for the SOP plant continues on schedule, with many items now received at site and the delivery of all key equipment forecast to be completed by the end of 2020.
