Healthcare Services Group, Inc. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2023. For the second quarter, the company reported sales was USD 418.93 million compared to USD 424.86 million a year ago. Net income was USD 8.6 million compared to USD 6.82 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.12 compared to USD 0.09 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.12 compared to USD 0.09 a year ago.
For the six months, sales was USD 836.16 million compared to USD 851.67 million a year ago. Net income was USD 21.28 million compared to USD 18.15 million a year ago. Healthcare Services Group, Inc. provides management, administrative and operating services to the housekeeping, laundry, linen, facility maintenance and dietary service departments of healthcare facilities, including nursing homes, retirement complexes, rehabilitation centers and hospitals located throughout the United States. The Company's segments include housekeeping, laundry, linen and other services (Housekeeping), and dietary department services (Dietary). Housekeeping segment manages its customers housekeeping departments, which are responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing of resident rooms and common areas of the customers facilities, as well as the laundering and processing of the bed linens and other assorted linen items. Dietary segment manages its customers dietary departments, which are responsible for food purchasing, meal preparation and professional dietitian services that include the development of menus that meet the dietary needs of residents.
