The Cooling Systems Business Unit registered in the first quarter one of its best performances ever with close to EUR 132 million of new orders.
Dry Cooling registered major successes in the Middle and Far East while Wet Cooling also performed very well with several contracts signed, either for new installation or major repair/repack works, in Brazil, South-Korea, India, Greece, Russia and the U.K.
Bookings of the PHE Business Unit were quite low in the first quarter as no award decision was taken by customers on any of the long list of major projects followed by the BU during that period.
The next quarters should be much more active.
APC EMEA/Brazil performed well during Q1 2014, even if the value of new bookings is below last year which had benefited from the award of a very important contract from EDF (France) for the retrofit of ESPs for two coal-fired power plants.
New orders of the period are well spread across the different regions where the Business Unit is active.
This steady inflow of new contracts augurs well for a return to profitability of the BU in 2014.

Air Pollution Control and Heat Recovery NAFTAEven with a very limited number of coal-fired opportunities in the NAFTA region, the Business Unit did very well in the first quarter with new contracts secured in the US for heat exchangers for the mining industry, a flue gas treatment installation for an oil refinery and aftermarket work as well as for the export market thanks to an order for heat recovery steam generators for a project in Singapore.
ChimneysBookings for Q1, even if very low, were on budget as no chimney or major repair work contract award was foreseen for that period.
