Launches Michigan Makeovers Program

TROY, Mich. , Jan. 26, 2015 -- Flagstar Bank today held the ribbon cutting for its new branch at 3901 Woodward Ave., in Detroit's Midtown district. The branch offers Flagstar's full range of deposit and lending products, including the availability of mortgage, business banking, and investment services. The office features Saturday hours and a walk-up ATM.

This is Flagstar's second new branch in Detroit since opening its One Detroit Center office in December 2012. The Midtown branch features an urban, street-feel design to complement the existing cityscape.

"It's a bright, open space complete with Wi-Fi for customers and fresh coffee service," said Dave VanderPloeg, director of Retail Banking for Flagstar Bank. "The first thing customers notice when they walk in is that there are no teller stations. We wanted to create a retail experience similar to other brand-name stores in the area."

With the opening of its Midtown branch, Flagstar is announcing a program to connect its new branches to their neighborhoods and make a lasting impact in the community.

Called Michigan Makeovers, the program awards a $5,000 grant for a revitalization project in the market area of Flagstar's new branches. The public nominates and votes on their favorite project via MIMakeovers.com, which goes live at 9 a.m. Jan. 28.

Michigan Makeovers puts the power to make change in the hands of people who know the community and know its needs," VanderPloeg said. "It's a perfect fit with the opening of our Midtown branch because it gives us a way to extend the investment in our branch further into the community." Subsequent new or relocated Flagstar branches will also participate in Michigan Makeovers.

Hours at the Midtown branch are Monday and Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
