ASX Announcement
24 July 2017
Underground samples return assay results of up to 47.5% Zn+Pb outside current resource Promising results from sampling, mapping, and structural interpretations to assess potential extensions to the north and east of the existing Colonna Zorzone resourceHIGHLIGHTS
-
Underground sampling along the exposed walls of the 990 RL drive at Pian Bracca has returned results including:
o 42.9% Zn, 4.6% Pb, and 52ppm Ag o 42.2% Zn, 6.2% Pb, and 40ppm Ag o 40.0% Zn, 8.4% Pb, and 56ppm Ag
- The mineralisation at Pian Bracca, about 270m to the east of the existing resource, was discovered and partially developed by ENI, but never mined. Given the trend of the mineralisation, it is possible that it extends to link up with the existing Colonna Zorzone resource.
Energia Minerals Ltd (ASX: EMX) ("Energia" or the Company) is pleased to advise the assay results from a recently completed underground grab sampling program at its 100%-owned Gorno Zinc Project in northern Italy.
This latest sampling program by the Company forms part of the low-cost regional exploration work that commenced in May, utilising existing access to zones of mineralisation to investigate components of Gorno's regional exploration potential beyond the current Resource Estimate for Colonna Zorzone of 3.3Mt grading 4.8% Zn, 1.3% Pb and 27g/t Ag. Refer to Figures 1, 2, and 3 for sample locations.
A total of 43 samples were collected at Pian Bracca, which lies about 270m to the east of the current resource. The mineralised zone is interpreted to be at least 220m long and up to 60m wide. In two places it is observed to be more than 3m thick. The zone appears to trend 245⁰ dipping near horizontal. This interpretation is supported by historical percussion holes, mineralisation in drives, and both recent and historical diamond drilling data.
The samples were taken in lines along the walls of the drives where mineralisation was visible, with small rock chips taken every 20cm along these lines, forming a composite sample of the mineralisation visible in the drive. All but two of the samples were taken horizontally along the drive, with the remaining two taken perpendicular to bedding (providing the thickness observations noted above).

While these sample results cannot be used in a resource estimate1 at the current time, they provide support for the historical ENI (Gorno's previous owner) and current Energia geological interpretation, and furthermore characterise the mineralisation type in this zone as oxide or sulphide (refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2 for details and Table 1 for assay and location data).
Significantly, the location of sample S43, which returned assays of 16.8% Zn, 3.9% Pb and 38ppm Ag, lies between the Pian Bracca zone and the existing Colonna Zorzone resource.
In light of these results, further work will focus on the area of mineralisation to the immediate north of the Colonna Zorzone resource. Energia's team is focused on systematically testing the up-dip potential, particularly at the 1040, 1090, and 1150 RL's, using low-cost sampling techniques where there is existing access from previous underground workings. Historical data available about these levels is sparse, with the original ENI interpretation being that two thin columns of mineralisation trend south before joining to meet the existing resource. This interpretation seems largely to be based on mineralisation in view in the drives. However, preliminary observations show the Metallifero to be undulating, and as such the mineralised body may be wider than first interpreted. This investigation work is ongoing. (Please refer to Figure 3 for further details.)

Mr Andreazza is a full-time employee of Energia Minerals Limited. Mr Andreazza has sufficient experience which is relevant to the styles of mineralisation and types of deposits under consideration and to the activities being undertaken to qualify as a Competent Person as defined in the 2012 Edition of the "Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves". Mr Andreazza consents to the inclusion in this release of the matters based on their information in the form and context in which it appears.
The information in this release that relates to Mineral Resources is based on, and fairly represents, the Mineral Resources and information and supporting documentation extracted from the report, which was prepared by Mr James Ridley as Competent Person in compliance with the JORC Code (2012 edition) and released to ASX by the Company on 3 May 2017. The Company confirms that it is not aware of any new information or data that materially affects the information included in the original market announcement. All material assumptions and technical parameters underpinning the Mineral Resource estimates in that previous release continue to apply and have not materially changed. The Company confirms that the form and context in which the Competent Person's findings are presented have not been materially modified from the original market announcement.
1 They do not fully describe or encompass the true width of the mineralisation at the sample point, nor are they continuous samples.
