For the third consecutive year, Donaldson Company is pleased to be the sole sponsor of Science Fusion: Brining Cultures Together at the Science Museum of Minnesota. Through a Donaldson Foundation grant of $30,000, the Museum will open its four-part series of cultural exhibitions, science experiments and interactive learning on January 7, 2012. The exhibit, which runs every Saturday during the month of January, is designed for kids and adults of all ages with exhibits hosted by a variety of Minnesota-based organizations, including Donaldson.

"We greatly appreciate the support of Donaldson Company, which has allowed us to bring Science Fusion to Science Museum visitors," said Dr. Eric J. Jolly, President, Science Museum of Minnesota. "Programs such as Science Fusion allow us to pair experts in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics with hands-on activities that inspire and motivate participants. The opportunity for young people to make personal connections with some truly amazing achievers from diverse backgrounds is a critical step toward building the next generation of scientists and science educators, the individuals who will help shape our day-to-day lives through their exploration and innovation."

Science Fusion will open on January 7, with the first annual "Asian Americans in Science" exhibit. Here, museum visitors will meet science and education professionals who represent many geographic backgrounds from Southeast Asia to the mainland and the Pacific Islands.

"African Americans in Science" will celebrate its 20th year as part of the Science Fusion exhibit on January 14. On site experts will guide visitors through interactive displays and presentations, while helping them to discover the inspiring contributions African Americans have made to technology, education, health care and innovation in Minnesota.

"American Indians in Science" will follow on January 21, where a wide variety of presenters from the Twin Cities' and statewide American Indian community will be on hand to share their areas of expertise through hands-on activities and dynamic displays.

The exhibit will conclude on January 28, with "¡Amantes de la Ciencia!" (Lovers of Science). Visitors will be introduced to professionals from the Twin Cities' Latino/a and Hispanic communities. Last year's activities included making milagritos, building geodetic domes out of marshmallows and toothpicks, and learning about human DNA.

"The Donaldson Foundation is pleased to continue our sponsorship of Science Fusion," said Jessica Exley, President of the Donaldson Foundation. "This exhibit embraces science, diversity and education in such a profound way for all who attend either one or all four parts of the series. I'd like to thank our many Donaldson employee volunteers who are helping to make Science Fusion a success again this year."
