Hemant Shah is revealing that RMS is preparing to roll out its cloud-based catastrophe risk management system RMS(one) during 2016, following an extensive period of 'addressing kinks' and fine-tuning the software. Speaking during the Property/Casualty Insurance Joint Industry Forum in New York, Shah explained that a lot of work has gone into making sure that 'the underlying technology platform is suitable not only for delivering our CAT models but can serve as a fundamental exposure management system for our clients.. This is what we have been working to make sure we get absolutely right before we release it broadly.'

RMS is releasing its recently developed Cyber Exposure Data Schema, an 'open standard' data schema which will provide the insurance industry with a systematic and uniform way to capture cyber exposure data and manage cyber accumulation risk. The Schema was developed in collaboration with the Centre for Risk Studies at Cambridge University and with support from eight leading insurance and reinsurance companies, and is both model agnostic, and compatible with any exposure management system. Andrew Coburn, Senior Vice President, RMS, commented that the schema will provide 'a much-needed framework for the market to grow its cyber capacity safely.' The full four-part suite of tools is being released at the beginning of February.

RMS is holding a webinar this week, on Thursday 21 January, to discuss the issue of vulnerability to inland flooding. RMS flood and vulnerability experts (Robert Muir-Wood, Chief Research Officer at RMS, and Navin Peiris, Senior Director, Model Development) will delve into the challenges of reconstructing inland flood events in real time and modelling the vulnerability of the affected properties. Genscape is forecasting that crude oil production in the USA will fall to 8.1 MMbpd (Million Barrels of Oil Per Day) by the end of 2016. Production in the USA peaked at 9.6 MMbpd in April 2015, falling to 9.2 MMbpd by December, and Genscape expects these declines to continue in 2016. There was a reduction in rig counts of 75 rigs in the last 2 weeks of 2015, and Genscape's 2016 North American Crude Oil Production Forecast predicts that 386 rigs will be dropped over the next six months, hitting a low of 384 active rigs in July 2016.

Cheniere Energy is revealing that its first cargo of liquefied natural gas from its new Louisiana export terminal will be delayed by as much as two months because of faulty wiring, with the first LNG cargo now expected to be shipped in February or March. Ted Michael, an LNG analyst for Genscape, commented in a telephone interview: 'It's the problem with any large-scale project. These sorts of delays just aren't avoidable given the complexity of the operation.'
