CPFL Energias Renovaveis SA, formerly ERSA - Energias Renovaveis SA, is a Brazil-based company engaged in the generation of renewable energy. Through its subsidiaries, the Company is primarily involved in the operation of small hydropower plants, biomass power plants and wind farms. As of February 28, 2012, it operated 34 small hydropower plants, eight wind farms and three thermoelectric plants, which total approximately 719 megawatts of capacity. The Company has a number of subsidiaries, including Alto Irani, Baixa Verde, Bio Alvorada SA, Bio Coopcana SA, Cachoeira Grande, Jantus SL, Mohini Empreendimentos, PCH Holding, Salto Goes, Santa Clara I, Santa Cruz and Santa Monica, among others. In August 2013, the Company announced that a thermoelectric biomass plant Coopcana, located in the city of Sao Carlos do Ivai, started operations. On February 27, 2014, the Company acquired 100% of shares of Rosa dos Ventos Geracao e Comercializacao de Energia SA.
