Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG) today announced that Constellation Electric and the Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® have aligned to raise funds to fight breast cancer.

Constellation Electric, provided by Constellation Energy subsidiary BGE HOME, will make an initial donation to the Komen fund to fight breast cancer, with the potential for additional contributions based on the number of Komen supporters who sign up for residential electric choice. Constellation Electric offers consumers a lower electricity price as compared with each Maryland utility's current weighted average standard offer service price.

?We are excited about this ground-breaking initiative with Komen Maryland that gives utility consumers the opportunity to lower the price they pay for electricity while also fighting breast cancer,? said Kathleen Hyle, senior vice president, Constellation Energy, and chief operating officer of the company's commercial division. ?This is a great opportunity for Constellation Electric and Komen Maryland and represents Constellation Electric's first agreement of this kind since promoting electric choice.?

Robin Prothro, executive director of Komen Maryland, said, ?We are thrilled that Constellation Energy has committed to this critical health initiative and look forward to partnering with a company of this stature to advance the fight against breast cancer.?

The Komen Maryland Affiliate, part of a grassroots network working to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cure for breast cancer, will extend the electricity choice offer to its thousands of supporters throughout Maryland.

Consumer interest in residential electric choice in Maryland has risen significantly since January 2010. The number of consumers choosing alternative suppliers more than doubled to 221,500 through October.

Constellation Electric offers electricity choice savings to 1.9 million residential customers in Maryland served by the major distribution utilities: Baltimore Gas and Electric, PEPCO, Allegheny Power and Delmarva Power. The range of savings varies based on each utility's current weighted average standard offer service price. BGE residential customers, for example, are being offered a price that is 8.3 percent lower than BGE's current weighted average standard offer service price when a consumer signs-up for a two-year contract with Constellation Electric.

The Maryland Public Service Commission, the state agency that regulates energy companies doing business in Maryland, licenses energy suppliers such as Constellation Electric to compete with the state's utilities. Maryland residential customers can visit www.constellation-electric.com or call 1-888-219-4239 to learn more about available offers or to sign up for Constellation Electric. This offer is made by BGE HOME Products & Services, Inc., doing business as Constellation Electric. BGE HOME is not the same company as BGE, a regulated utility. Constellation Electric's MD License is IR-228.
