Cerner Corporation announced the Hon. Patrick Murphy as new chairman of the Cerner Government Advisory Board. Murphy assumes the role of chair from outgoing advisory board member, the Hon. Bob Kerrey, former U.S. senator and governor of Nebraska. Murphy, the first Iraq War Veteran elected to Congress, is currently the chairman of innovation at the U.S Military Academy at West Point and an ambassador for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring Heroes initiative. Previously, he served as the 32nd undersecretary of the Army and was also on the Appropriations, Intelligence and Armed Services Committees while in Congress. Murphy also serves on the Cyberspace Solarium Commission, established by Congress to support efforts to protect against cyberattacks, examine how the private and public sectors can work together to protect America’s information infrastructure and promote collaboration between government agencies. In addition to Murphy, Cerner also welcomed four new members to the advisory board: Hon. Anthony Principi, former secretary of Veterans Affairs, Retired Army Col. Gregory Gadson, career Army officer and former director, Army Wounded Warrior program, Retired Army Col. Dr. Artie Shelton, director, Veterans Health Council, Vietnam Veterans of America, Rina R. Shah, CEO and president, Peridot Technologies, LLC.
