CEREBOS 3RD QUARTER FY 2011 SALES ON PAR
WITH PREVIOUS PERIOD DESPITE DIFFICULT

[ Singapore - 11th November 2011 ] Cerebos
Pacific Limited today announced a 3rd
Quarter sales of S$238.5 million compared
to S$239.2 million in the previous
corresponding quarter. Excluding the
exchange translation loss of of S$1.3
million, 3rd Quarter sales would have been
on par with the previous corresponding
quarter. Operating profit for Q3 FY 2011
was 5% lower than the previous
corresponding quarter at S$31.3 million (FY
2010 Operating Profit : S$32.8 million).
Net Profit was 11% lower at S$20.6 million
(FY 2010 Net Profit : S$23.2 million).
President & Group CEO, Mr Eiji Koike said:
"Overall Cerebos' 3rd Quarter performance
has been satisfactory amidst the difficult
economic environment. Sales of Coffee and
Sauces ebbed slightly but our flagship
BRAND'S® range of health supplements
provided continued growth. In line with our
long term strategic plan, we focused
investments on areas where we could further
strengthen our already established brand
image and our reputation for high
quality.
BRAND'S® health supplements division
sales for the 3rd Quarter rose 6% compared
to last year despite the Taiwan nationwide
food contamination scare having a
significant negative impact. Excluding the
exchange translation impact of S$2.5
million, Health Supplements sales would
have been 8% higher.
We have continued to engage consumers most
recently through marketing initiatives
emphasizing Probeptigen®, a newly
discovered active ingredient in BRAND'S®
Essence of Chicken, supported with strong
scientific backing by the BRAND'S® Brain
Research Centre.
In the Food & Coffee division 3rd Quarter
sales were down 8% compared to last year,
mainly due to the discontinuation of the
Riva® instant coffee range and lower sales
from the sauces category in Australia.
Excluding the exchange translation gain of
S$1.2 million, Australasia sales would be
9% lower."
For the first nine months ended September
2011, Cerebos Group turnover was up 5% at
S$700.2 million (FY 2010 : S$665.4
million). Turnover would have improved by
6% if the exchange translation loss of $7.4
million was excluded. Net profit for the
first nine months was flat at S$66.0
million (FY 2010 : S$66.2 million).
Commenting on the remainder of the
financial year, Mr Koike said : "The fourth
quarter of the financial year will be
difficult. In addition to the global
economic environment and increase in
commodity prices, the Group's results will
be significantly affected by the flooding
in Thailand. The impact should be for the
short term and the outlook for the Group's
business remains positive over the mid to
long term."
