Alert on Fake Email and Fraudulent Website

Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited ("BOCHK") wishes to alert the public about a fake email notifying customers about their receipt of a new payment. The email requested customers to check the statement by clicking an embedded link leading to a fraudulent BOCHK website. BOCHK would like to declare that it is not related in any way, directly or indirectly, to these fake emails or the fraudulent website. This fraudulent website, with similar design to the official Internet Banking login page of BOCHK, requested customers to enter the Internet Banking number / user name and login password. BOCHK has reported the case to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Hong Kong Police. Anyone who has logged into the fraudulent website and has provided his or her personal information (including but not limited to account numbers, personal identification numbers ("PIN") or other account information), or has conducted any financial transactions through this website should contact BOCHK's customer hotline at (852) 3988 2388 and the Hong Kong Police.
Customers are reminded to be vigilant of any fake emails or fraudulent websites which seek to pass off as those sent or operated by BOCHK. Customers should not access their e-banking accounts through hyperlinks embedded in emails sent to them from any unknown source or enter any suspected fraudulent websites. It is always prudent to type in the web address of BOCHK (www.bochk.com) into the browser address bar to ensure the security of their personal information. Under no circumstances would BOCHK send out emails or SMS messages, or call customers asking them to call back or browse a website for system upgrade, or to collect or verify customers' personal information (including but not limited to bank account number, PIN, account balance, HKID card number and passport number).
