BKW prices
Electricity prices unchanged for 2013 - solar power cheaperBKW Inc. has decided not to make any general adjustment in its electricity prices effective from 1 October 2012, despite difficult boundary conditions such as regulatory intervention and rising costs. Minor individual increases may be introduced within the different customer segments due to energy pricing adjustments in the ratio between high and low tariffs. Overall, private households will enjoy stable prices for 2013. BKW is also reducing the surcharge for certified solar power to 39 cents per kWh.
The 2013 prices can be kept stable not least thanks to the
comprehensive cost reduction and efficiency enhancement
measures adopted by BKW. Despite every effort to enhance
efficiency, however, investments in the grid and production
areas which are essential for security of supply will
necessitate an increase in prices in the future.
Effective 1 October 2012, BKW will also reduce the
surcharge for the 1to1 energy sun star product from 63
cents to 39 cents per kWh. This brings it into line with
the current average market prices for electricity from new
generating facilities. BKW has taken this step in a bid to
boost demand, which in turn will enable additional,
lower-cost production plants to be built and operated.
BKW customers will be informed about the price adjustments
over the next few weeks. The new grid usage and energy
prices, valid from 1 October 2012, will be posted on the
BKW website at www.bkw-fmb.ch/markt.
This website also provides customers with an electricity
cost calculator to help them calculate the change in their
electricity costs.
