• Additional benefits offered to customers who sign up for direct deposit of salary or pension.
  • The requirements a customer must meet in order to be exempt from the main service fees are made clear: just sign up for direct deposit of pay or pension and either use the account's credit card or purchase insurance or start a pension plan.

Bankia has launched its Direct Deposit Campaign, redoubling its commitment to transparency with customers. The Bank states in clear and simple terms the requirements a customer must meet in order not to have to pay the main service fees.

The idea conveyed by the campaign is that "when the terms and conditions are clear, the relationship can be for life".

"If you sign up for direct deposit of pay and use your credit card, we will remove the fees" is one of the messages the company aims to communicate. This is not the only message, however, as there are many other ways of gaining exemption from fees. It is the customer who decides which way to do it. Basically, the options consist of having a salary or pension paid directly into the account and purchasing an additional financial service or product.

On signing up for direct deposit, the customer gains access to all the advantages of the direct deposit service: advances on pay (up to 70% of the salary or pension, with an upper limit of 1,100 euros), payment of bills by direct debit, SMS alerts, accident insurance, access to "Puedes Más" consumer credit, Investment and Pension Plan Loan, Discounted Interest Rate Mortgage Loan, and discounts of up to 25% on home insurance.

Customers who sign up for direct deposit of their pension will have access to the overdraft service (up to 70% of the pension, with an upper limit of 800 euros), advances on the monthly pension payment, free direct debit payment of bills, free subscription to the SMS alerts service, Renfe Gold Card, Bankia telephone and online banking, and discounts of up to 25% on home insurance and other senior citizen benefits, such as discounts on travel, leisure, culture and other services.

Any customer who signs up for direct deposit of pay or pension and uses the Bankia credit card, purchases insurance (home, auto, health, life, etc.) or starts a pension plan becomes a "No Fees" customer and is exempt from fees on all basic accounts and debit cards.

Young people under the age of 26 can also gain exemption from the main fees by simply signing up to receive correspondence in electronic rather than paper form.

Bankia also offers the Unemployment Service, whereby customers who have their unemployment benefit paid directly into their account have free access to the SMS alerts service and direct debit payment of bills. Direct deposit of unemployment benefit in Bankia gives access to the "No Fees" programme on the same terms as direct deposit of pay or pension.

Throughout 2014, customers who have their salary or pension paid by direct deposit will be eligible for prize draws with cash prizes to meet their daily expenses (shopping, fuel, etc.).
