Beaumont House residents host a Partnership Celebration Event at their new home in Walton on the Naze

Beaumont House is an exciting new housing complex boosting the options for older people in north Essex. On Friday 5 October residents welcomed to their new home representatives of the companies that worked closely together in developing the facility, to enjoy a Partnership Celebration event. Everyone was treated to a lunchtime meal followed by the cutting of a celebration cake and musical entertainment with afternoon tea.

The residents are benefiting from a new home with high quality, attractive one or two-bedroom self contained apartments. Each of the 60 apartments comes with a fully fitted kitchen, wet room, lounge and storage and has a balcony or patio area. In addition to the home comforts that their apartments provide, residents have the use of a stylish lounge with a bar and a large dining room where lunch is served as part of their care package. There is also a guest suite for family and friends.

The apartments have enabled local older people with a domiciliary care need to continue to live independently with the added security of care and support from One Housing's Season Homes, which has managed the site for the past 15 months since it opened to residents.

Resident Margaret Webb commented, "I moved here in the middle of June, the care and the staff have been nothing short of fantastic. My accommodation is so lovely and everything is where I need it."

Margaret Lewington added, "Having moved here in July last year, I recently lost my husband and the support from the staff has been wonderful. I wouldn't have managed without them. Before I came here I was very lonely and now I have lots of close friends."

Nigel Nicholls said of the event, "The entertainment was brilliant, the afternoon was a good celebration of a wonderful enterprise."

Giancarlo Guglielmi, ECC Member for Tendring Rural West, Deputy Leader of Tendring District Council said:

"It was a great pleasure to have been invited and attended the first anniversary of the second Assisted Living Scheme in Tendring, namely Beaumont House. I was also delighted to have deputised for the Chairman of Essex County Council Cllr John Aldridge, to officially open Rosebank House in Dovercourt.

What Ashley House, together with their partners have achieved is phenomenal, firstly with regards to tackling the ever growing burden on the Adult Social Care budget, and secondly by enabling the older members of our communities different levels of care to choose something that suits their needs, that does not cost them an arm and a leg, and most importantly gives them the opportunity to still living their lives with their loved ones, even when only one of them needs care.

The environment they have manage to create within these schemes is second to none, there is a real vibrancy, a great sense of community, incredibly comfortable and well laid out rooms, where residents can choose the level of involvement in the activities provided.

Last Friday at Beaumont House I was very fortunate to see just how well residents had settled in, and obviously enjoying themselves; you could also very clearly see the relation they all had with the very happy staff who look after them.
