London, United Kingdom (10 January 2014) - AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has renewed and expanded its position on a framework agreement with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) which spans a broad range of technical service.

The Framework Agreement for Technical Support - Specialist Technical Support (FATS/STS) is an umbrella supply chain agreement used by the MoD Defence Equipment and Support (DES) organisation to ensure the efficient and cost effective procurement of technical services to support the provision of equipment and capability.

AMEC has secured agreement under the framework to provide an extensive range of specialist technical services across multiple work areas for the MoD over the next two years (with additional optional one-year extension).

The agreement prequalifies the company to bid for the supply of specialist environmental and energy related services as required by the MoD.  Environmental work will cover installations, facilities and construction, environmental management, transport and 'through-life support' support, while the energy work will cover installations and safety management.

Rob Brown, Managing Director of AMEC's Environment & Infrastructure Europe business, said; "We are a major supplier to Ministry of Defence organisations for environmental, planning, sustainability, engineering and energy services.  This is an important framework appointment for AMEC which will enable us to provide a broader range of multi-disciplinary services to our clients and take on projects in new areas."

FATS/STS is the latest generation of the framework for providing technical services to the MoD.  AMEC's main activity through its role on previous FATS frameworks is supporting the DES and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation.
