AEON DELIGHT New Headquarters Office Receives

WELL Health-Safety Rating for the First Time

AEON DELIGHT Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Kazumasa Hamada, President & CEO and Group CEO; hereinafter "the Company") on August 16, 2021, received the WELL Health-Safety Rating for its new headquarters office in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, which will begin operations on September 1. The Company will utilize the accumulated skills and knowledge in earning the WELL Health-Safety Rating to contribute to creating a safer and more secure facility environment for customers.

The WELL Health-Safety Rating is one of the WELL Certifications that rates a buildingʼs environmental and energy performance and the health and comfort of users and is an international rating system formulated in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is managed by the US-based International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), and 12,000 facilities worldwide and around 30 facilities in Japan have received the rating as of the end of July 2021. The review process considers COVID-19 infection control measures, emergency preparedness, air/water quality control, etc. of the facilities applying for the rating.

The headquarters office that earned the rating this time has introduced various infection control measures including an open network system* that centrally manages air conditioner units and automatically adjusts ventilation according to the CO2 concentration, as well as antibacterial and antivirus contact surfaces, and a system using sensors for non-contact measures and prevention of congestion. In addition, consideration is given to the health of employees with lighting controls that support biological rhythms and ergonomically designed office chairs, etc. Measures are also in place to ensure business continuity, such as power sources and dedicated circuits built to prepare for disasters.

The Company is expanding the facilities management business in Japan, China and ASEAN countries based on the management principle, "We pursue the creation of ʻenvironmental valueʼ for our customers and for the local communities."

Based on the AEON COVID-19 Protocol for Infectious Disease Control formulated by Aeon Co., Ltd. on June 30, 2020, the Company has established New Standards in Facility Management that

COVID-19 infection control measures introduced at the new headquarters office

  • Performing ventilation according to CO2 concentration An open network system is introduced to continuously

monitor CO2 concentration in the room using CO2 sensors and to automatically adjust ventilation volume depending on the situation, while the operation of each air conditioner unit is centrally controlled, and air volume and temperature settings are automatically adjusted according to the air environment. The CO2 concentration, temperature and humidity for each location are displayed

on CO2 concentration monitors installed in 11 places throughout the office, and an alarm sounds and the light changes color when figures exceed the limit, sending an email urging the person in charge to ventilate. There are plans to enable employees to check the CO2 concentration using an office app on their smartphones.

Infection control measures from contact surfaces

Antivirus and sterilizing UV irradiation systems that can be used in space with people, the Care222® I Series, are installed at five locations. Ultraviolet rays with wavelengths of 222 nm are irradiated to continuously inhibit and disinfect bacteria and viruses in the air and on surfaces that people touch. In addition, in order to prevent infection from contact surfaces, antibacterial and antivirus coating is applied or antibacterial and antivirus film is affixed to spots with high contact frequency with hands, such as tables, chairs and other fixtures and vending machines.

Antivirus and sterilizing UV irradiation system

Non-contact measures and prevention of congestion using sensors Non-contact light switches, automatic opening/closing of external doors to toilets and other measures are introduced for spots that come in contact with many employees. Sensors also grasp the availability of toilets on each floor, which is displayed on panels to guide employees to floors with vacancy and prevent congestion in the toilets.

Swing doors also automatically open/close with sensors
