World Dairy Expo is Seeking Nominations for Recognition Awards

MADISON, WIS. -Nominate leaders in the dairy industry for the 2015 World Dairy Expo Recognition Award program. Exhibitors, producers, organizations and academic staff are encouraged to nominate people that should be considered for one of the four award categories. Applications are now available and will be accepted through February 15, 2015.

Recognition Awards will be presented in the following categories:

Dairy Woman and Dairyman of the Year will be presented to individuals who are active dairy producers and whose primary source of income is derived from their dairy operation. Her/his farming operation needs to demonstrate and excel in the breeding of quality animals and efficient production. Progressive management practices, along with involvement in community, government activities, breed organizations and other aspects of the dairy industry will be considered.

Industry Person of the Year recognizes an individual for excellence in research, development, education, marketing or other fields that are part of the dairy industry.

International Person of the Year will be honored for significantly contributing to international relations, business development, trade and cooperation in the dairy industry.

The 2015 World Dairy Expo Recognition Award winners will be honored at the Dinner with the Stars banquet during Expo on Wednesday, September 30, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis.

Groundbreaking Marks New Era for World Dairy Expo Cattle Facilities

MADISON, WIS. - A crowd was on hand April 11 as project partners turned the first shovels of dirt, marking the start of the construction for the New Holland Pavilions at Alliant Energy Center, Madison, Wis. The $24 million expansion will replace the current barn facilities with state-of-the-art multi-use pavilions. The construction project is to be completed in time for World Dairy Expo, September 29 through October 4.

The New Holland Pavilions will span 290,000 square feet, and will be equipped with modular stalling systems, modern ventilation and livestock exhibitor amenities. Scott Bentley, World Dairy Expo General Manager states, "We are excited that the pavilion building project is underway. The new facilities will provide improved accommodations for the elite dairy cattle that travel to World Dairy Expo to compete".

Financial support from public and private partners made this project a reality. Dane County, the State of Wisconsin, World Dairy Expo, Midwest Horse Fair/Wisconsin Horse Council, Centerplate, New Holland and BouMatic joined together to contribute to the construction project.  

World Dairy Expo is recognized as the meeting place for the global dairy industry. More than 70,000 dairy producers and industry experts from 90 countries travel to Madison, Wis. annually. The world-class event includes 2,500 head of North American dairy cattle competing on the famed "colored shavings", more than 850 exhibiting companies in the renowned trade show, Expo Seminars, Virtual Farm Tours and exciting youth competitions.
