Calgary, Alberta - January 5, 2012 - West Mountain Capital
Corp. ("the Company" or "WMT") today announces that its 100%
owned subsidiary Phase Separation Solutions Inc. ("PS2")
completed the fabrication of its first Thermal Phase
Separator (TPS) unit in Nanjing, China.
Under our Strategic Cooperation Agreement with the Nanjing
Institute of Environmental Science ("NIES") the Company
jointly committed to sharing the cost of the TPS unit
fabrication on an equal basis. This tremendous undertaking
for a China-based fabrication began in early 2011, and before
commencing involved the development of a process to choose a
local fabricator and other specialized contractors in China,
translate all TPS engineered drawings into Chinese and
convert all drawing measurements from imperial units to
metric. "I am very pleased with the effort of our TPS
personnel both in Canada and China," said Paul Antle,
President and CEO, "they have had some big challenges
integrating into the Chinese culture but have adapted and
done so very successfully".
In the months ahead this commercial scale TPS unit will be
used in China to demonstrate its effectiveness to treat soil
contaminated with Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) such
as pesticides and other organic chemicals. The TPS unit has a
capacity to treat approximately 30,000 tonnes of soil per
year and, based on its modular design, can be expanded to
treat approximately 60,000 tonnes per year.
"We are very pleased to have completed the fabrication of our
first TPS unit in China and we are excited to move into the
demonstration phase of our agreement with NIES" said Antle.
"We expect to mobilize our TPS unit to the designated
demonstration site immediately following the Spring Festival
holiday (Chinese
New Year celebrations) scheduled to begin on January
23rd, 2012. Personnel from the Company's
Canadian soil treatment operation in Saskatchewan will be
onsite in China to assist with the mobilization and then
again for the factory acceptance testing, commissioning and
operation of the unit."
The demonstration site is located in Suzhou, Jiangsu
province. Following the Spring Festival holiday, on or about
February 13th, the TPS unit will be completely
installed at Suzhou and a full factory acceptance test
undertaken before being commissioned. Once commissioned, PS2
and NIES will begin the
demonstration using POPs contaminated soil from the Suzhou
area. Approximately 2,000 tonnes of POPs contaminated soil
has been stockpiled and will be treated during the
demonstration after which all data will be analyzed and
reported. The Company expects the demonstration to be
completed by July
2012. Following the successful demonstration phase the TPS
unit is expected to be employed for commercial operations in
Jiangsu province.
"This is a major milestone for our Company and our Chinese
partner" said Antle, "we have progressed a great deal in
China and now is when the rubber hits the road." Under the
2010 Strategic Cooperation Agreement with NIES the parties
contemplate forming an equal equity Sino-foreign joint
venture company subject to the satisfaction of the TPS
demonstration.
PS2 is an established Canadian environmental solutions
company specializing in the thermal treatment of a variety of
hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams. It employs a
unique indirectly heated, closed
loop technology that allows it to extract even the most
hazardous contaminants from soil, industrial sludge and waste
converting much of it into reusable oil and synthetic natural
gas that it uses to sustain the
process. This methodology offers significant opportunity for
greenhouse gas reduction over traditional
hazardous waste destruction technologies. PS2's management
team maintains expertise in hazardous waste management and
contaminated site remediation with experience spanning North
America and internationally throughout 14 countries.
