Upwork : Ranked 'Best Place to Work in Chicago’, Expands to New Office in the West Loop

Company plans to double its Chicago team to capitalize on the city's diverse pool of talent and innovative tech scene

CHICAGO -January 10, 2019 -Upwork (UPWK), the largest freelancing website, today announced it has been ranked as the 'Best Place to Work in Chicago' by Built in Chicago as it expands to a new office in the West Loop neighborhood. The new office marks Upwork's third office expansion in three years, replacing a prior sales-focused local office the company outgrew as its usage among Fortune 500 companies continues to grow. Over 30 percent of Fortune 500 companies now utilize Upwork to engage freelance talent, including Microsoft, Samsung and GE.

The new office is located in Chicago's burgeoning West Loop neighborhood. The 34,000 square foot space features 240 workstations. The company plans to expand to 500 workstations within the next 18 months. Upwork joins other established technology leaders including Google, Salesforce, LinkedIn, Microsoft and Amazon in establishing a Chicago presence.
