The consensus counted on 97.0. The previous publication was 98.3.
This indicator released by the University of Michigan is, with the Conference Board, one of the two main indicators of consumer confidence in the United States. This statistic is based on phone interviews with general questions about the economic outlook of the United States. Three answers are possible: negative, neutral or positive, which is used to determine an average level for the indicator. An increasing index could mean a recovery in consumer spending and therefore GDP growth.
