True Wind Capital (“True Wind”), a San Francisco-based private equity firm focused on investing in leading technology companies, today announced the promotions of David Hirsch, Will Heldfond and John Gray to Principal.

  • Mr. Hirsch joined True Wind in 2016 from Wind Point Partners and focuses on investments in the industrial & transportation, government, marketing, and SMB sectors. Mr. Hirsch currently serves on the boards of directors at LeadVenture, Sysnet Global Solutions and E-Emphasys Technologies. Mr. Hirsch holds a B.A. with honors in Economics from Claremont McKenna College.
  • Mr. Heldfond joined True Wind in 2018 from Accel-KKR and focuses on investments in the financial technology, public safety, and healthcare technology sectors. He currently serves on the boards of directors at Open Lending (NASDAQ: LPRO) and Cellebrite (NASDAQ: CLBT). Mr. Heldfond holds a B.A. in International Relations with an emphasis in Economics from the University of Southern California where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
  • Mr. Gray joined True Wind in 2020 from Audax Private Equity and focuses on investments in enterprise software, including construction & engineering, HR, and education sectors, as well as consumer & media technology. Mr. Gray played a critical role in leading True Wind’s investment in Rover.com and currently serves on the board of directors at AIA Contract Documents. Mr. Gray holds a B.A. with honors in Economics from Dartmouth College.

These promotions reflect True Wind’s rapid growth over the past year, including the announcement of four new senior hires in November 2021 as well as the successful close of its second fund with $817 million in equity commitments, exceeding the fund's target.
