The US private sector created more jobs than expected in December

The US private sector created more jobs than expected in December, ADP's monthly survey showed on Thursday.

The survey showed 164,000 jobs created last month, compared with a revised figure of 101,000 in November, while economists polled by Reuters were expecting an average of 115,000.

The publication of the ADP survey results precedes the release of the official Labor Department employment report on Friday.
