ARVADA, Colo., Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Last week, the Arvada City Council ratified the appointment of Shawn Olson, General Manager for Sundyne Americas, to the Arvada Economic Development Association's (AEDA) board. Ms. Olson's appointment to the AEDA board will carry a 3 year term, during which time she will help the AEDA fulfill their role as Arvada's community business-to-government liaison and a strategic resource for business and support.

This development solidifies the role Sundyne plays in the local Arvada community as a job creator and driver of economic growth. Sundyne has operated out of their Arvada facility for over 50 years, engineering and manufacturing reliable pumps and compressors for use in the global oil, gas, chemical, power generation and processing manufacturing industries.

"As someone who grew up in Arvada, this is a huge honor for me," explained Ms. Olson. "I look forward to serving on the AEDA board and working to identify ways to help manufacturing companies succeed and thrive in this city."

The AEDA board is comprised of private sector representatives and largely focuses on driving revenue for the city and growing new business. Ms. Olson's role will specifically concentrate on helping manufacturing companies grow via employment resources, implementation of lean concepts and the identification of funding services that can help manufacturers become more competitive.

"She cares about making a difference," said AEDA Director Hazel Hartbarger. "We are thrilled to have her on our team, as she truly understands the community and how Sundyne fits in."

Late last year, Sundyne was recognized at the 19(th) annual Business Appreciation Awards breakfast as one of the leading Arvada businesses of 2013, due to their outstanding corporate citizenship, community involvement and significant employee growth.
