Regional foreign trade data first half-year 2013 (preliminary results): Burgenland and Lower Austria with the highest increases in exports

V i e n n a , 2014-01-02 - According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria for the period January to June 2013, the federal states Upper Austria, Vienna and Lower Austria showed - in the order indicated - the highest external trade values in terms of trade-intensity (sum of imports and exports). Regarding imports, Styria had the biggest declines (7.8%) whereas the imports of Burgenland increased by 9.6%. Burgenland exported 13.0% more goods than in the same period of 2012. Lower Austria's exports increased by 7.4%. Five of the nine Austrian federal states showed a foreign trade surplus for the period January to June 2013.
