CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP), West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR), West Virginia Conservation Agency (WVCA), and the West Virginia Division of Forestry have awarded $98,360 in grant funding for 21 groups as part of the Stream Partners Program.

The West Virginia Stream Partners program was established by the Legislature in Code Section 20-13 to 'encourage citizens to work in partnership with appropriate state agencies so that the state's rivers and streams are safe for swimming, fishing and other forms of recreation, can support appropriate public and commercial purposes, and can provide habitat for plant and animal life.'

The organizations receiving funding are:

• Buckhannon River Watershed Association: $5,000
• Buffalo Creek Watershed Improvement Association: $5,000
• Cacapon and Lost Rivers Land Trust: $5,000
• Coal River Group: $5,000
• Coal River Mountain Watch: $5,000
• Forks of the Coal: $2,200
• Fourpole Creek Watershed Organization: $3,395
• Friends of Blackwater: $5,000
• Friends of Deckers Creek: $5,000
• Friends of the Cheat, Inc.: $5,000
• Friends of the Hughes River Watershed: $5,000
• Friends of the Lower Greenbrier River: $5,000
• Greenbrier River Watershed Association: $5,000
• Guardians of the West Fork: $5,000
• Morris Creek Watershed Association: $5,000
• Paint Creek Watershed Association: $5,000
• Piney Creek Watershed Association: $5,000
• Save the Tygart: $5,000
• Upper Monongahela River Association: $5,000
• Warm Springs Watershed Association: $2,765
• West Run Watershed Association: $5,000
