Skyhigh Networks, the leading Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), today announced the next generation of its CASB platform, with the industry’s first persona-driven interaction model and pre-built operational workflows. The new platform leverages best practices from hundreds of Global 2000 CASB implementations, offering new capabilities for security, compliance, governance, and executive leaders grappling with effectively implementing and managing cloud security.

IT professionals report the greatest barrier to effective cloud security is a lack of expertise to maximize the capabilities of new technologies. Skyhigh’s CASB personas provide the user with data, actions, workflows, and reports tailored to their role.

“Skyhigh’s CASB is central to our cloud strategy for security, governance, and compliance,” said Ralph Loura, CTO at Rodan + Fields. “Skyhigh’s next-gen CASB user interaction model will help us drive better results more efficiently across departments.”

Skyhigh’s next-gen CASB features a new user interface to simplify and guide workflows for critical business teams, making them more productive and effective at managing cloud security. Skyhigh’s Cloud Access Security Broker v3.1 provides the following benefits for four distinct personas:

  • Executive and C-Suite: Targeted to address boardroom concerns, the executive view analyzes cloud usage and risk across the enterprise and summarizes it into an enterprise risk score. Trending analysis gives the C-suite a quantitative read on how well the enterprise is responding to the cloud over time. Users can leverage pre-built reports or create custom reports of keen interest to CEOs, CIOs, CISOs, as well as Audit and Risk Committees.
  • Risk Manager: Focused on enforcing acceptable use policies across thousands of cloud services, the governance view accelerates visibility and risk management for the cloud era. Users can classify cloud services into groups (e.g. sanctioned, permitted, denied), streamline the process to approve new services, and coach employees to use low-risk services.
  • Compliance Manager: Focused on ensuring compliance with industry regulations (e.g. PCI-DSS, HIPAA, FISMA and FITARA), the compliance view enables users to manage data loss prevention (DLP), collaboration, and access control policies. Users can quickly review violations using innovative features like match-highlighting and take remediation action with minimal clicks.
  • Security Manager: Designed to prevent data exfiltration, the security view is optimized for the SOC team to respond to anomalous behaviors indicative of an insider threat or compromised account. Users can delineate between anomalies and threats, tune threat models to minimize false positives, and export data to their SIEM for centralized management of all threats.

Due to the sensitive nature of these roles, access to these personas is protected with role-based access controls. For example, Super Administrators can easily ensure that a Compliance Manager only has access to DLP policy violations but not threats. The new platform also features a responsive user interface to drive productivity across all device types and screen sizes.

Gartner recommends, "Security leaders should deploy CASB for the centralized control of multiple services that would otherwise require individual management” in its Market Guide for Cloud Access Security Brokers by Craig Lawson, Neil MacDonald, Brian Lowans, October 22, 2015.

“Skyhigh was the first CASB to market, a category that Gartner calls the fastest growing security category ever. Our next generation platform release reflects the maturity of our solution as well as that of our customers’ cloud security programs and is further proof of our continued thought and market leadership in the CASB category,” said Kamal Shah, SVP of Products and Marketing at Skyhigh Networks. “We partnered with the most innovative Global 2000 companies to develop Skyhigh’s next-generation platform, which caters to how companies are actually using CASB to enforce their security, compliance, and governance policies in the cloud era.”
