Simply Hired, the largest independent job search engine with properties in 24 countries and 12 languages, today released its Simply Hired U.S. Employment Outlook for December 2015. The report analyzes Simply Hired’s comprehensive index of millions of online job listings in every occupation to provide detailed insight into national and local job trends. According to the new findings, nationwide job listings grew 0.21% between November and December 2015 to close out the year up 9.58% overall.

This month’s Simply Hired U.S. Employment Outlook also provides comprehensive data on job openings, growth and employers by U.S. metro. The report shows that job listings increased in 11 of the Top 25 largest U.S. metros in December 2015. The metros with the largest gains were San Francisco Bay Area (2.48% month-over-month increase); Washington, DC (1.37%); Seattle (1.34%); St. Louis (1.23%); and Boston (1.03%).

Job Hunt Monday: January 4, 2016

Americans are responding to a stronger labor market and new opportunities with active interest. Simply Hired’s data shows that job searches typically surge on the first Monday in January as Americans return to work after the holiday. This phenomenon, which Simply Hired has termed Job Hunt Monday, attracts a high number of active candidates looking for a better situation in the new year.

According to the Simply Hired U.S. Employment Outlook, job searches jumped 92.84% on Job Hunt Monday 2016 (January 4, 2016) compared to the average number of searches in December 2015. This increase is significantly higher than the 56% gain reported for Job Hunt Monday in January 2015. These Job Hunt Monday job seekers represent all levels of training and education, with keywords such as ‘LPN’, ‘receptionist’, ‘human resources’, ‘administrative assistant’ and ‘sales’ ranking among the most searched terms of the day.
