One Community All Stars finalist was chosen from each of the following three categories: education, healthcare and community. Award criteria required that finalists go above and beyond their normal daily job requirements to help others in his or her community. Nominations were accepted exclusively from the insurance brokers of Safety National policyholders. As a part of the recognition, Safety National donated $10,000 to a charity of each finalist's choice.

  • Charles Mikeska, Assistant Superintendent/CFO of the West Independent School District in West, Texas, for his outstanding efforts to get the school district back up and running after the West Texas Fertilizer Plant explosion. Safety National presented a $10,000 donation to the Legacy West Foundation on Mikeska's behalf.
  • Sheelah Yawitz, Former President of the Missouri Merchants and Manufacturing Association in Chesterfield, Missouri, for her extraordinary fund-raising efforts for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
