SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) has been awarded a contract by Opinaca Mines Ltd., a company owned by Goldcorp Inc., to provide project management, detailed engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the Éléonore gold project in northeastern Quebec, Canada.

The Éléonore mine is located in the James Bay region of Quebec, 350 km north of Matagami and east of the Opinaca reservoir. The process plant will be designed to process 7,000 tonnes of ore per day.

SNC-Lavalin's scope of work includes the engineering and design of the mineral processing plant, all plant infrastructure, tailings management facilities, a permanent camp, service buildings and facilities, and an industrial water treatment plant.

"This award validates our product-focused approach, which integrates the best expertise from across the organization in order to bring reliable project delivery solutions to our clients," said Dale Clarke, Executive Vice-President, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. "It also reflects the important role we are playing in northern Quebec, and our contribution to sustainable development in that region."

Detailed engineering has commenced at SNC-Lavalin's offices in Montreal, Vancouver and Quebec City. Construction activities have been initiated and are expected to conclude by the end of the third quarter of 2014.
