RBF Consulting (RBF), a Company of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE MKT:BKR), has been selected by the City of Escondido, Calif., to provide construction management (CM) services for construction work related to the new $30 million Lake Wohlford Dam. RBF's time and materials CM contract is not to exceed $2.4 million.

"We are very excited to participate in this significant and necessary project for the City of Escondido," stated RBF Executive Vice President Rick Rubin, P.E., AICP, LEED AP. "RBF's team, led by Wayne Papac with over 40 years of experience, not only allows us to provide our Construction Management expertise to the City, but it furthers our goal of serving public agencies in the region to improve infrastructure and safety."

Lake Wohlford is a reservoir located in the foothills of San Diego County, approximately 6.5 miles northeast of the City of Escondido. The existing dam was built out of rock in 1895 and was enlarged and reinforced with hydraulic fill in 1924. In 2007, an analysis determined the 1924 portion of the dam seismically unsafe. Mitigation measures included decreasing the lake's water surface elevation to 40% of the full capacity until the dam could be upgraded to meet state-mandated seismic standards. The reservoir supplies roughly 30 percent of the City's water and 120,000 people within the Vista Irrigation District.
