Physicians’ Education Resource® (PER®), a leading resource for continuing medical education (CME), announces that PER® President Phil Talamo has received the Brian P. Russell Exemplary CME Professional Award from the National Association for Medical Education Companies (NAMEC). The award was presented Wednesday, Jan. 23 during the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions 2019 Annual Conference at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

“I am so proud and honored to accept this prestigious award from NAMEC,” said Talamo. “The entire PER® team is committed every day to providing world-class CME across a wide array of medical disciplines, and this award is a reflection on dedication and work ethic of our entire team.”

Talamo began his healthcare communications career with The American Journal of Managed Care® in 2008. There, he developed and implemented initiatives that educated managed care professionals across multiple disease states, with a focus on oncology and immunology before transitioning into the CME industry. Now as president of PER®, Talamo leads a worldwide continuing medical education company focused in oncology/hematology and multispecialty education, with hundreds of live, online, and print initiatives in multiple continents.

The award, named after Brian P. Russell, honors an individual working within a NAMEC member company. Russell was a pharmacist who spent years working in CME for various companies before becoming the director of medical education at Roche Laboratories, Inc. He was enthusiastic about and dedicated to providing quality medical education.

The award is presented by NAMEC, a professional association dedicated to providing representation, advocacy and education for its continuing medical education members. To learn more about NAMEC, click here.
