PCCI is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Miff, PhD, as President and CEO, effective Jan. 23. The elite scientific research and development organization has been operating in Dallas since 2012. Dr. Miff succeeds PCCI’s founder and current President and CEO Ruben Amarasingham, MD, who has led the organization since its inception.

“After thorough planning and a comprehensive search process, the PCCI board is pleased to have found a leader to champion PCCI’s tradition of innovation and grow its transformative work in the healthcare sector,” said Ted Shaw, Chair of the PCCI Board and CEO of the Texas Hospital Association. “Steve brings broad industry experience, data-intensive thought leadership, and a proven track record of growth in his previous roles as General Manager and Senior Vice President of Sg2 and Senior Vice President of Vizient.”

PCCI, an affiliate of Parkland Health & Hospital System, develops and consults on data and clinical science programs with a goal of positively impacting healthcare delivery and lowering costs. The organization is responsible for nationally recognized, novel research programs that are changing the face of healthcare in Dallas, including cutting edge improvements in patient care at Parkland Memorial Hospital. PCCI is the recipient of more than $45 million in grants directed toward building collaborative community health initiatives, developing new technologies at Parkland and managing chronic diseases to improve outcomes and lower costs.

Dr. Amarasingham, who has served as the CEO of both PCCI and PCCI’s sister company, Pieces Technologies, Inc., for the past 14 months, is stepping down to dedicate his efforts to Pieces Tech operations. The two organizations work closely together and will continue to do so in the future.

“As I turn my efforts to the growth of Pieces Tech, I am delighted that Steve Miff will be assuming the helm at PCCI,” Amarasingham said. “Steve is a brilliant leader, researcher and strategist with 15 years of experience in PCCI’s core domain. He will have a profound impact on PCCI’s trajectory and innovation, as we partner with health systems and research organizations locally and nationally, beginning at Parkland.”

“I am honored to join such a talented and passionate team that has flourished under the support and leadership of Dr. Amarasingham, the Board and Parkland,” said Dr. Miff. “I am particularly excited by PCCI’s unique opportunity to create rapid cycles of innovation and build cutting-edge analytics that are personalized to each individual in each community. I look forward to collaborating with leading providers and organizations to advance this work in the emerging age of artificial intelligence and machine learning."

Dr. Miff earned his PhD, MS, and BS degrees in biomedical engineering and a BA in economics from Northwestern University.
