Ontario nominates Maureen Jensen to chair securities regulator

TORONTO (Reuters) - Ontario's provincial government on Tuesday nominated Maureen Jensen as the new chair and chief executive of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), the largest provincial securities regulator in Canada.

Jensen has been the OSC's executive director and its chief administrative officer since 2011. She was prior to that the head of surveillance and compliance with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), a position she held from 2008 until joining the OSC.

"Ms. Jensen's nomination as the OSC's new Chair and Chief Executive Officer reflects her accomplished career in the financial services industry and expertise in capital markets regulation," said Ontario's Minister of Finance Charles Sousa, in a statement.

The province said the appointment is subject to a review by the Standing Committee on Government Agencies.
