OUC Orlando Utilities Commission : to Provide Green Energy Credits for NFL Pro Bowl

ORLANDO - OUC-The Reliable One, Orlando's municipal utility, will provide green energy credits to the National Football League (NFL) for the equivalent amount of energy consumed by Camping World Stadium during a two-week timeframe around the NFL Pro Bowl January 29. The energy usage is estimated to be around 560 megawatt hours. That's approximately enough energy to power 560 homes for one month.

OUC is providing Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to the NFL through its extensive use of sustainable energy sources, including solar and landfill methane gas. 'We are happy to welcome the NFL's top players to our community, and we are fortunate to have an extensive renewable energy credit portfolio that can help the NFL offset its energy use during this premier event,' OUC General Manager & CEO Ken Ksionek said.

OUC was the first utility in Central Florida to build a large solar farm and was one of the first in the nation to offer community solar where its customers can 'buy a piece' of an array. A nearly 13-megawatt solar array is under construction now at OUC's Stanton Energy Center in East Orange County where OUC also utilizes methane gas from the Orange County landfill to offset coal.
