Number of building permits lower for the fourth year in a row

In December 2020, more building permits issued than in November 2020

In December 2020, 1% more building permits were issued in Slovenia than in November 2020. For residential buildings 20% more building permits were issued and for non-residential buildings 11% fewer than in the previous month.

In December 2020, 98% of all building permits were issued for new constructions and 2% for conversions. In comparison with November 2020, the number of building permits for new constructions decreased by 0.3%, while the planned floor area increased by 49%. In comparison with 2019, 6% fewer building permits for new constructions were issued in 2020 and the floor area of these buildings was 3% smaller.

In December 2020, more dwellings planned than in November 2020

By issuing building permits, in December 2020 construction of 429 dwellings was planned, which is 30% more than in November. 62% of all dwellings were planned in one-dwelling buildings and 38% in two- and more dwelling buildings.

By issuing building permits in December 2020, 24% more newly built dwellings were planned than in November 2020 and the planned floor area of these dwellings increased by 15%. In comparison with 2019, 8% more newly built dwellings were planned in 2020 and the floor area of these buildings was 3% larger.

In 2020, fewer building permits issued and more dwellings planned than in 2019
In 2020, 5,792 building permits were issued, which is 6% fewer than in 2019. For residential buildings 4% fewer building permits were issued and for non-residential buildings 7% fewer than in 2019. The floor area of buildings for which building permits were issued in 2020 was 1,493,994 m², 5% smaller than in 2019. The planned floor area of residential buildings was 6% larger and of non-residential buildings 13% smaller.With building permits issued in 2020, 3,610 newly built dwellings were planned, which is 8% more than in 2019. In one-dwelling buildings 7% fewer dwellings were planned and in two- and more dwelling buildings 64% more than in 2019. In 2020, the planned floor area of dwellings was 3% larger than in 2019. In one-dwelling buildings the average floor area of dwellings was 165 m² (in 2019 160 m²) and in two- and more dwelling buildings 89 m² (in 2019 101 m²).
