Washington, D.C., January 13, 2017 - The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) will run three ads, starting this weekend, calling on viewers to contact their U.S. senators and voice their support for the U.S. Senate confirmation of Scott Pruitt as Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator.

'For far too long, the EPA has ignored the impact of its regulations on the lives and livelihoods of the men and women who make things in America. But President-elect Donald Trump's nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt for EPA administrator signals that change is finally coming,' said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. 'Manufacturers believe in responsible environmental stewardship. After all, we develop many of the innovations that have made our air and water cleaner and safer, and we are on the leading edge of emissions reduction and sustainability. By listening to the concerns and ideas of manufacturers, we believe the EPA can drive continued environmental quality improvements without threatening the jobs and paychecks of Americans who work in manufacturing. Congress should take action and confirm Scott Pruitt to get this agency functioning on day one.''Small and medium-sized manufacturers are among the hardest hit when Washington overregulates, and some of the costliest regulations have come from the EPA,' said Neenah Enterprises, Inc. President and CEO and former NAM Small and Medium Manufacturers Group Chair Tom Riordan. 'We need a leader who will work with everyone to improve the environment while creating opportunity for manufacturers of all sizes to compete and grow in the global economy.'

The NAM remains committed to reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency, recycling more and reducing waste.
