Senator Anthony Bucco, Sr., and Assemblyman Anthony Bucco, Jr., a father-and-son duo, will be presented the Heroic Legislators award on Sunday, January 24.

The Alliance for Free Choice in Education is organizing the event as a kickoff to School Choice Week in New Jersey. The event will be held Sunday, January 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Best Western Robert Treat Hotel and Conference Center in Newark.

In addition to the award ceremony, there will be a panel of legislators, education reformers, and school choice advocates to discuss the impact school choice could have on the children of New Jersey.

Israel Teitelbaum, executive director for the Alliance for Free Choice, said, “The Buccos empower all New Jersey parents to send their children to the quality school of their choice. We are proud to honor them today for their courageous efforts in the New Jersey Legislature.”

Confirmed speakers include Senator Anthony Bucco, Sr.; Assemblyman Robert Auth; Assemblyman Anthony Bucco, Jr.; Deputy Mayor of Morris Township Bruce Sisler; Steven Craft, Christian Citizenship Ministries; Debbie DeLuca, Americans for Liberty; Rick Van Glahn, New Jersey Taxpayers’ Association; Rabbi Avi Schnall, Agudath Israel of New Jersey; and Victoria Jakelsky, New Jersey Parental Rights.

David White of Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) will present a plan to resolve the civil rights crisis of our time – our failing urban schools – and will close the program with a press conference on this most critical matter.

Over 200 people are expected to attend the event, which is sponsored by Alliance for Free Choice in Education, Americans for Liberty, Agudath Israel of New Jersey, New Jersey Parental Rights, Independence Hall Foundation, L.E.A.R.N. – Northeast, CORE of New Jersey, New Jersey Taxpayers’ Association, and Students for a Better Future.
