National Oil Corporation confirms that a group of individuals closed the natural gas pipeline valve that feeds the power plant at Bir Terfas district in Zawia city resulting in the loss of huge amount of this station's production because of the resort to use diesel to operate the station and the consequences resulted thereof, as mentioned in the Statement by the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), as well as the financial implications that will lead to increasing the fuel imports and the associated smuggling crimes that will occur in Zawia city.

National Oil Corporation reaffirms its firm attitude towards the closing of pipelines, fields and the entire oil facilities and it considers such actions as criminal and unjustifiable by any demands, however legitimate they are. The oil facilities and oil and gas pipelines are not an arena for fighting or sit-ins and the arm-twisting and blackmail policies are irrevocably gone and forever. None reminds Libya of any favor!

It is worth mentioning that a statement was circulated by the social media and issued by the General Trade Union of Zawai represented by the so-called Jalal Etoumi, the Coordinator of the Steering Committees of Zawia and Mahmoud Ahmed Chairman of Trade Union Affairs of Zawia- NOC has not verified the accuracy of such entity or the titles claimed by those who issued that statement yet. The search is continuing to investigate about them, communicate with them and warn them of the necessity of the immediate and unconditional opening of the gas pipeline valve to avoid taking the legal procedures locally and internationally against them and against the group that supports them. As for their demands, they have to contact the competent authorities who will consider the appropriate procedure that will be taken in that respect.

National Oil Corporation urges all sides to have a bias towards the national interests in order to bring Libya to safe port before it is too late.
