Secretary General of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) said the Middle East's demand for natural gas will grow 64% by 2040.

Mohammad Hossein Adeli said the global population will growth 8% between 2015 and 2040 which will add 1.7 billion residents to the planet, Iran's SHANA news agency reported.
This is while, he said, the urban population of the world will grow by 64% in the world by 2040 which will bring about more demand for energy consumption while the global economic growth will stand at 3.1% by then.
He said the Middle East's demand for energy will also rise by 64% by 2040 which in Africa demand will grow by 54% and in Asia by a little more than 50%.
