Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) received his committee assignments for the 115 Congress. Congressman Griffith will again serve on the Subcommittee on Health, the Subcommittee on Energy, and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Congressman Griffith was named Vice Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee last week. He issued the following statement:

'I am honored to once again serve on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The Committee has jurisdiction over many important issues affecting Southwest Virginians, including energy policy, environmental regulations, health care, and technology. As we in Congress work with the new Administration to replace Obamacare, end the War on Coal, and create jobs, the Energy and Commerce Committee will be at the center of the action.'

'The Subcommittee on Health will work to repeal Obamacare and create a 21 century healthcare system for American families that provides affordability, quality, and choice.'

'As a member of the Subcommittee on Energy, I will promote an energy policy focused on the use of our domestic resources, including coal, oil, natural gas, and renewables. A strong national energy policy is an essential component to a thriving economy and job creation.'

'As the Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, I will be able to lead efforts to ensure that the laws falling under the full Committee's jurisdiction are being faithfully executed and upheld.'

The Subcommittee on Health is tasked with overseeing policies pertaining to public health including public and private health insurance, health information technology, the regulation of food, drugs, and cosmetics by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), drug abuse, and biomedical research. The Subcommittee on Energy oversees national energy policy including coal, natural gas, power generation, and air emissions. The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations is responsible for investigating issues that fall under the full Committee's jurisdiction.
