On November 20, Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov was received in Abu Dhabi by Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and held meetings with UAE National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Assistant Secretary General of the Supreme National Security Council Sheikh Ali Al Shamsi.

The sides highly appraised the current level of friendship and multi-faceted mutually advantageous cooperation between Russia and the UAE. The Abu Dhabi leaders reiterated their commitment to maintaining a trustful political dialogue with Moscow and building up bilateral trade and economic, investment, energy, industrial, cultural-humanitarian and other ties.

As regards more detailed discussions of regional and international matters, the officials focused on the situation in Syria, Yemen, Libya and Iraq, the state of affairs in the Persian Gulf and Palestinian territories. The sides also emphasised that there was no alternative to a political and diplomatic solution to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa via an inclusive national dialogue relying on the principles of international law, the need to consolidate efforts of the international community in responding resolutely to terror and extremism.
