8 January 2016: H.E. Eklil Hakimi, Minister of Finance welcomed a delegation from US Senate led by Mr. Senator Bob Corker on January 8, 2016 at Presidential Palace.
US Ambassador Mr. Michael Mckinley along with other key members also participated in the meeting and the delegations from both sides discussed economic policy reforms that include realization of self-reliance, robust revenue mobilization, transforming the country into a regional transit and trade hub, and improving security situations across the country.

During the meeting Minister Hakimi also talked about the government commitment to combating corruption translated into achieving revenue targets higher than those agreed with International Community and the IMF. In 2015, the collections were around Afs 6 billion higher than the target.
Senator Bob Corker welcomed the steps taken by government to achieve reforms that are keys to building confidence and keep Afghanistan on the agenda of international community.
