(SHADA: TEHRAN) - Iran's non-oil exports to Iraq via the customs offices of the South-western Province of Khuzestan have increased by 14 percent over the past nine calendar months, the Head of Khuzestan's Customs Administration Supervisory Department Mohammadreza Jafari said.

Since the beginning of the current calendar year (March 21, 2013), he noted, 2.658 million tonnes of goods with a total value of 637 million dollars have been exported via the provincial customs offices to the neighbouring Iraq, adding that the figure has witnessed a 14-percent growth this year.

Cement (white and gray), tiles and ceramics, bricks, fruits and vegetables, fish and dairy products, automobiles and home appliances constituted Khuzestan's main export items to Iraq, most of which were handled via Shalamcheh, Chazabeh borders and Khorramshahr coastal border, the Iranian official pointed out.

Located some 500 km from Iraqi provinces of Basra and Maysan, Khuzestan has a long shared border with Iraq which has largely contributed to a buoyant trade between the border provinces over the recent decades.
