(SHADA: TEHRAN) - Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA)'s customs revenues have grown by 35 percent over the past nine months of the current calendar year (starting March 21, 2013) to hit IRR 5.101 billion (USD 212 thousand approx.), the Head of IKIA Customs Administration Gholamreza Fatehi said on Wednesday.

During the calendar month of Azar (November 21 - December 21), an average 507.218 million dollars worth of commodities were imported into the country via IKIA customs office, up by 56 percent as compared to a year earlier, Fatehi told Young Journalists Club News Agency (YJC).

Meanwhile, the total exports heading from the customs office to different destinations totalled 66.051 million dollars, experiencing an 80-percent increase in value against last year.

Fatehi went on to point out that carpets and kilims, saffron, nuts and dried fruits, as well as agricultural crops made up the main items exported via IKIA customs office.

He also referred to some 4.208 million passengers having travelled across IKIA by air, 401,411 of whom were Iranian Hajj pilgrims.
